We changed the name to better reflect that any aspect of philosophy is relevant to this Meetup, including traditional and modern views of philosophical questions. We invite anyone who is interested - you don't need a degree in philosophy to participate!
Relevant discussion topics include any aspect of: (a) ethics (what things are good? what things are good for us to do, for ourselves or others? (b) the nature of knowledge (how do we know what is true?) (c) the nature of art and beauty; (d) the nature of the universe, life, the place of life in the universe, etc.
At the beginning of our discussions, people suggest possible topics, and then we pick one to discuss that day. We can also consider choosing a topic ahead of time for our next Meetup.
We meet the first Sunday of each month, 1:30 - 3:30 in York. We usually go out to dinner after the Meetup; also, we sometimes go to movies as a group, and have some other activities - we can do some other things as a group, such as go to museums, historic sites, etc. If you have other suggestions, let us know.
