Should we try a 20 minute semi formal debate segment at the next Meetup?

I had an idea about having a semi formal debate segment at one of our Meetups. We would have 2 people choose a topic (anyone will do) and debate the topic in front of the group. The difference between this and what we normally do is that they will have time to prepare prior to meeting. They can research as much or as little as they want, but they should bring notes so that they can speak intelligently on the subject. Each person would be given 4 minutes to state their case (starter is determined by coin toss). They each would be given 2 1-minute rebuttals. They would have the floor the entire 12 minutes. In the spirit of having no losers, we won't pick a winner, but after the 12 minutes the rest of the group can go on the attack with questions to the participants and with statements of their own on the subject. I think this might be fun and it could allow us to get a little deeper on a subject. This would be a trial and it would only be for one 12 - 20 minute session.
