popwiLA! - you're gonna be popular! That's because more people are walking in LA than ever before. Remember the famous lyrics "Nobody walks in LA!" from the pop rock band The Missing Persons? Well, it's time for a rewrite! So many people love walking here that we started popwiLA! - an acronym for "plenty of people walk in LA!" Put on your popwiLA! t-shirts and gear, the new "Walking in LA" era is here!

popwiLA! is popping up all over and quickly becoming a movement in LA, and it's easy to see why. We love walking the streets and trails of LA and we have a passion for what popwiLA! stands (and walks) for.

Join the movement today. Every step you take - at the beach, on a walk with family and friends, a dog walk, or at a popwiLA! walk - you'll help our city finally defeat the bad rap that "nobody walks in LA." popwiLA! is more than just a cute name that looks great on a t-shirt. While some people will wear our shirts because they think it makes a great fashion statement, most people will wear 'em because popwiLA! makes a powerful statement to America and the world that we have plenty of walkers here. Sure, celebrities will wear our gear, but popwiLA! will be popular because of you. You're the ones taking the popwiLA! message into your neighborhoods because it means something special to you. Let's make the popwiLA! shirts as popular as all the Kobe Bryant and Manny Ramirez shirts you see all over town. Together, we will forever change the perception of LA for the better and have major fun doing it.

If you belong to a walking club now, great, we don't want you to leave that club, but we are asking you to become a popwiLA! member, join us for some walks, and wear the t-shirts to get our message out. It's time to put on your walking shoes, sneakers, hiking boots and flip flops and show your civic pride. The time to change our city's perception is NOW!

"How many miles are popwiLA! walks?" That all depends on you. On some walks, some members may decide to walk 10 miles, others will go 10 blocks. This is not a competition, so go at your own pace. Whether your 23 or 103 - or you have a 3-year old that you want to walk with - consider yourself a popwiLAwalker! Whatever category you fit, from fitness and exercise buff to the casual walker, popwiLA! wants you! And if you're a dog walker, popwiLA! welcomes you too -- dogs are explorers and love walking all around LA!

When we accomplish our goals, it won't be just because of all the popwiLA! walks that attract the large crowds. No, it'll be all the small neighborhood walks that take place day in and day out across the entire soutland, organized by local members. A small group could be a couple of husbands and wives out for their nightly neighborhood walk, or it could be a group of 10 or 20 people who organized a walk in another part of town.

Join the most popular walking group in LA, and be sure to tell your friends and relatives, because popwiLA! is here for the long run and the long walk.
