Eagle Creek to Twister Falls

MEETING PLACE: Gateway Transit Center Parking Garage (1200 NE 99th Avenue, Portland, OR)
TIME: We will be meeting at 8:30 am, and leaving the garage by 8:45 am sharp!!
TOTAL HIKING DISTANCE: 13 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: 1600 ft
ESTIMATED HIKING TIME: 5.5 hours
PACE: A moderate pace of about 2.5 mph
DIFFICULTY: On the difficult side due to length of the hike
CARPOOLING: Roundtrip mileage is approximately 70 miles, so we suggest a $7 donation to your driver!

All drivers will need a NW Forest Pass to park in the lot at the trailhead. If you don't have one, a day permit can be purchased there for $5.

The hike along Eagle Creek is a beautiful one full of rewarding views and gorgeous waterfalls! For more detailed information about the hike, check out this website:

Please remember that this is the Pacific NW and weather conditions can change quickly and without warning! Come prepared and dress appropriately. Some reminders: wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots, bring extra socks if needed, wear layers, avoid cotton, bring trekking poles if you have/need them, be prepared for rain (you never know!). Also, don't forget lunch, snacks, and lots of water to stay hydrated!

NO DOGS PLEASE!

NOTE: Please be prepared for this type of hike and know that you are 100% responsible for yourself! I am happy to help in any way I can but ultimately you are responsible for your safety and well-being!! Please let me know if you have any questions! See you on the trail! =)

Jenn, do you think there's snow and or ice on the trail? Just trying to think if I should prepare for that!

Good question, Liz! I tried to find current info about trail conditions online but could not find anything recent. I have not been out there in awhile myself, but my best guess is there won't be much (if any) snow or ice due to the recent mild weather conditions. I would say that everyone going should be prepared for some ice on the trail (bring traction devices, like microspikes) and at the very least be prepared with trekking poles to keep your balance on any sketchy sections we may come across. Thanks for the reminder!!
