Mostly good news. The hearing was extremely biased in favor of the hunters and the "neutral" Department of Fish and Wildlife, but as it failed to meet the Monday deadline to be on the Senate Docket it will not go before the Senate this year. It's dead. Bad news the trophy hunting lobby did a good job passing off poor science and a non-existent threat to public safety and making the Humane Society and other Animal Welfare and environmental agencies in favor of upholding the ban look like minority outsiders with a political agenda. The house had voted 40-19 to repeal the ban in selected counties without considering the consequences of applying state law to only the counties that approve of the law. The Oregon Humane Society will be coming out with a "spank card" to let you know which representatives voted for the repeal of the ban. I know Tigard's Margaret Doherty was one of them despite her district being overwhelmingly in favor of the ban. Time to contact the 40 state representatives.

more planning and info before hand would have been good so we could have gotten there early enough to get seats in the hearing room

Molly I sent you a private message with my e-mail and cell#. I'm thinking about leaving from Veggie Grill downtown at 1pm (and meeting other vegans for lunch there at 12:30 if you care to join). Can you meet me there?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
