Volunteer Work Party at Wildwood Farm Sanctuary

It's their first official work party! (And these work parties at local farm sanctuaries are always the most favorite events that PAWA does.)

Some suggestions:
You'll be able to meet their animals, maybe even work around them on farm chores. Or you might be asked to help with a project they need done that will allow them to continue to operate or expand what they do. Wear old clothes that can get dirty, even muddy. Bring a veg lunch to enjoy afterwards if you like. But be prepared to work and have a fun time too! If you love farm animals, you'll love spending this time with them at this wonderful sanctuary.

Katie, our Event Organizer is looking to carpool from Portland. If you RSVP yes to this event and are interested, please email her at [masked].

I'm so sorry to have missed the Wildwood work party today! I tried to change my RSVP to No but the site wasn't allowing it, it may have been too late. But I did publicize Wildwood on my Facebook site so that many people would learn about it, and I'll visit it on my own very soon. I was so happy to learn we had a sanctuary way closer to Hillsboro than Out to Pasture! I will visit it soon. Just wish I could have met you guys too :) I got really sick a couple of days ago and I slept in and didn't hear my alarm this morning :( Guess I needed the rest. I am very sorry. Posted this on your discussion board too. Hope you can post a second work party!

This is probably a silly question. Can we bring treats for the animals like apples and carrots?

    February 12, 2014

Not a silly question at all! Usually the owners do let you feed them apples and carrot treats, but this is our first time at this one so I am not 100% sure on that. They have mostly chickens, other birds etc. and now 3 new calves as of yesterday. Have fun!

I'll be traveling from Salem and can only stay until 1:00. Hopefully that'll be ok, but please let me know if the time frame is not flex. I look forward to this fun outing! :)

Nicole you can stay as long as you can, the help will be appreciated. Please be aware, just so there's no conflict (I don't want anyone to be upset on either side of this) that any food etc. you may bring with you must be veg only, out of respect for the sanctuary. These are rescued farm animals and those that run them, and the majority of people who volunteer for this, do not believe in animals as food. PAWA does not want to be an exclusionary group, as we know it is a journey to educate and share about animal welfare, but we also do stand for veganism as an ultimate goal. I only say this because of your honest answers to our membership questions, which is appreciated. And I want to give you a heads up so it's a positive experience for everyone involved. I sincerely hope that you're being able to work with these animals affects you in the best way possible and that everyone there has a great time together as people making a difference in the world. Have fun!

No worries at all Summer. I'll be just fine and good to go off the breakfast I have before I get there. I'm not a frequent meat eater so can easily respect food tolerance from others. :)

Did everyone looking for a carpool email Katie to make arrangements? Her email is in the description. Hope you all can make it! Thanks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
