February Theme :: Parts & Pieces

Body parts, pieces of flair, parts of a flower, machine parts, pieces of eight, gears and cogs, a piece of cake, part of a plan, bits of wisdom... you get the idea
smile This might be a good theme for a sculptural piece, or a collage? Can't wait to see what you come up with! In addition, one of our founding members - Cynthia Heise - has asked if you all would like to participate in her show at
North Bank Gallery in Vancouver. I am posting the info. below. If you have any questions please contact her directly. I will be making an eye for the show! How about you? Dear Artists, You are invited to contribute a small piece of art to a "Happening" (in the jargon of the long ago). March 5, 2010 my solo show at North Bank Gallery - 1005 Main Street, Vancouver, WA (360)[masked] - will open 11:30-9pm with artists reception 4:30-9pm that evening. There are 3 gallery rooms, the 3rd gallery is a dark hallway which will be transformed by students from the Vancouver Art Academy into The Eyes of March. If you would like to contribute a small piece of art I will be honored. Because we are a co-op and tax-exempt I cannot bend the rules and the art will have to be juried in and the gallery will ask its standard 50% commission for non-members but the whole space will be transformed into (hopefully) a fun visual experience with EYE artwork by[masked] artists. I will pick up any artwork at the next Meet-Up. SPECIFICS: No people or animals shall be harmed in the making of this art! Maximum size 8"x10" in any medium. Otherwise the sky is the limit. People who make an eye, set of eyes or something symbolic of the eye should email me ( [masked] ) with: 1) their contact information 2) a short bio 3) optional, a line or 2 as an artist's statement saying something about their process or inspired for THAT eye 4) price if they are selling it. I will print off a page with this information and if the image is purchased the buyer will add his/her information on your page for ease of exchange. A small red dot will go on the wall next to the number of each art work to indicate when it is sold. If artists want to have business cards available they may be left in the front of the gallery. The First Friday event at the gallery is a reception from 4:30-9pm generally. (press the button on the parking meter and you get 20 minutes free parking before 6 and it is free after 6pm). The Columbian Newspaper plans to do a feature on this even and your art may appear in this story. If you send me a jpg file by the 10th of February of the piece you plan to submit it may go on the postcard sent to 3000 area art galleries, resources and interested patrons. This is meant to be fun so use your imagination!! Cynthia- [masked]
