September Theme : : Still Life

  • Sep 29, 2013 · 1:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This month the theme is Still Life. Create a still life from some of your favorite objects, or some fruit and veggies, a favorite vase full of flowers... whatever you like! Photograph it, paint it, collage it.. challenge yourself!

The above oil painting was done by Alexei Jawlensky - Still Life With Flask Fruit And Figure.

Below is Still Life with Milk Can and Apples by Paul Cezanne.

And here is Matisse's Goldfish.

And here is a contemporary still life oil/alkyd painting by local artist Katherine Ace called Fairies' Satisfaction.

Remember, the theme is a suggestion and not a requirement. Bring whatever artwork you would like to share, theme related or not. Hope to see you at the meeting!

Would anyone be interested in learning how to do art journaling? I am considering teaching a small group this winter.

yes! I'm not sure what the true "art journaling" is, but I just bought a book to get me started doing inspirational work in a handmade journal...It was a book that caught my eye, and is giving me a place to start...I'd like to learn more!

Hmmm.....I'm getting some major flooding down here and my power keeps flickering. Jenn, and everyone else, I think I'm going to have to weasel out of this. Well, I hate showing stuff that's not finished anyway. I will have something next month. I did some good research in Seattle. Sorry everyone.

Sorry can't make it! Too much to do today.

Sorry to bail--haven't missed a meeting in many months--but my new work isn't finished yet and I don't want to chance driving through the kind of flooding I hit yesterday. Amazing. Anyway, I look forward to next month's meeting and I'll bring new work. Thanks!

Well, I'll show up. This weather is nothing compared to the trip south from Seattle. True, I have nothing of importance to show but I'll dig something up; then you can all point the finger of shame at me for the little I bring.

Too dicey outside today to drive across town and more rain coming. I will see you next time. Have a wonderful meeting today.

I have to fill in at work since since our regular officers were re-assigned. but if you follow the link and scroll down you can see the animation table I was planning to bring. http://anamadness.tumblr.com/

I have, at this count, six paintings underway and incomplete. So, I may have to bring something that isn't finished, or something that is old, or new. Or blue. Or a drawing.
