May Theme : : Supernatural

PLEASE NOTE!!! The meeting is on SATURDAY from 11:45AM to 1:45PM at the HOLLYWOOD LIBRARY!

This month the theme is SUPERNATURAL. Create a piece that depicts some force beyond scientific explanation or the laws of nature. Crop circles, UFOS, ghosts and apparitions, big foot, Nessie... you get the idea. I picked this theme because there is an opportunity at Splendorporium to show your work in their June show. See below...

Here is the email from Splendorporium regarding the call to artists:

We wanted to give a shout out about our upcoming call to artists for our June group show at Splendorporium.  The theme is "Supernatural". The deadline for the show is May 30th. We are open 11am to 5pm - with extended hours until 7pm on Monday, Weds and Friday's - for your drop off convenience.  We can accept up to 6 pieces, all media is welcome.  The artwork must be recent (the past year), ready to hang with wire or stable enough to sit on a pedestal.

If you are interested, just send us some images before you head on down and as always, if you have questions send Suzanne a message ([masked])!  The show opening is June 6th and there will be tarot readers at the event. This is a two month show, so your work will be here until the first of August.

Hope to see you at the meeting!

Jenn, your idea about my finding a space is a good one. How much space do we need?

Nope. I would have to apply for para-transit service in Vancouver, make reservations with Tri-Met for the Lift bus here then make reservations with the Vancouver Para-transit service for the rest of the trip. Tri-Met would drop me off on one side oft he bridge, I'd have to cross the bridge, then have the Vancouver service pick me up. It would be a major deal with a lot of time waiting for rides just to go to and return from anything in Vancouver. And that is something I am not in the least interested in dealing with. I'm more than willing to take the Lift bus to the Amtrak station and take a train to Seattle once in a blue moon to spend a few days with a friend of mine or to CA to visit my cousin for a week. But, for a few hours, no.

Weird that Portland doesn't do the sleeper communities. I've lived in plenty of states that have similar setups with across the river towns, and deal with it better. Just one more thing… Would you be against riding with someone? (not that there would be a spot over there…. it's still just a thought)

Hi Jay... we bring finished or work in progress to share. Every month we have a theme. You can create a piece based on the theme or you can bring whatever you like. Or you can just come and observe. Hope to see you there!

I was going to go then noticed after the fact that it taking place on Saturday and had to change to a no go. Saturdays don't really work for me due to other obligations. Big bummer! This topic really caught my attention. I'm all about the supernatural.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
