July Theme : : The Sea

The Sea is a symbol of the dynamism of life. Everything comes from the sea and everything returns to it. It is a place of birth, transformation and rebirth. With its tides, the sea symbolizes a transitory condition between shapeless potentiality and formal reality, an ambivalent situation of uncertainty, doubt and indecision which can end well or ill. Hence the sea is an image simultaneously of death and of life. (from the Dictionary of Symbols - Penguin Reference).

I love the beach... being near the ocean is so inspiring! Not only the landscape, but the birds, the shells, the sand, the wind, the smells... ahhhh... makes me wish I was there right now! What aspect of the sea will inspire your art? Let's see it at the meetup :) Or... bring something old or new you've been working on that you'd like to share. It doesn't have to be theme related. I will bring beverages and chocolate. Feel free to bring a snack to share if you like. Hope to see you!

We have a group of talent that every time I see their work, I want to run into the library area and invite everyone into the room to see their work. Then I listen to the stories behind their art, and I realize how this creative energy drives a passion much deeper than exhibit or profit. I am a lucky person to be surrounded by these wonderful people! Missed you Cynthia and Dale, thanks again for your help.

Also, I'd like to suggest a subject theme...process. Bring art such as a studio scene, rough sketches, still life of art implements/supplies...also bring favorite tools, supplies...share your process!

If the July meeting would happen to be moved to the middle or end of the month I would LOVE to attend! So disappointed that it is scheduled for the very beginning of the month when I will be out of state. If I have to miss it, please take lots of pics!
