$5 Merry Monday Meetup @ Living Room Theaters! MENTAL

Grab a drink and let's go see a movie! Bring friends and some good conversation to discuss the film, its characters, the production and more. The Living Room Theater is the location of our weekly Monday meetup. Most movies they play are independent, foreign, artistic with an occasional blockbuster.

We meet Monday evenings to take advantage of their $5 Merry Monday Movie special. They have weekday showings of all their movies in the 7:00 hour, and those are the showings we're shooting for. If you see something coming up there that you'd like to recommend as our Living Room movie of the week, message me or post it on the board by Wednesday the previous week!

See you at the movies!

Please confirm film time the day of the show. The theater frequently changes showtimes.

Mental reunites writer-director P.J. Hogan with his original leading lady Toni Collette for the first time since "Muriel's Wedding." The impressive ensemble cast also includes Anthony LaPaglia, Rebecca Gibney, Liev Schreiber, Deborah Mailman, Kerry Fox, Caroline Goodall and Sam Clark.

The film follows the story of the Moochmore girls who are certain they all suffer from some kind of undiagnosed mental illness - because if they're not crazy then they're just unpopular. Their mother Shirley (Gibney), unable to cope with her demanding teenage daughters and philandering politician husband, Barry (LaPaglia), suffers a nervous breakdown. After Barry commits his wife to a mental hospital (telling his constituents that she's "on holiday") he finds himself alone with five teenage girls he barely knows. Desperate, he impulsively picks up a hitchhiker named Shaz (Collette) and installs her in his home as nanny to his daughters, unaware that her presence will turn everybody's life upside down.

Lore was enjoyable and I recommend it. I really wanted to see Like Someone in Love but I was away last week and now the latest screening is at 4pm - bummer!
