$5 Monday Meetup @ Living Room Theaters! Run And Jump (7:45pm)

Grab a drink and let's go see a movie! Bring friends and some good conversation to discuss the film, its characters, the production and more. The Living Room Theater is the location of our weekly Monday meetup. Most movies they play are independent, foreign, artistic with an occasional blockbuster.

We meet Monday evenings to take advantage of their $5 Merry Monday Movie special. They have weekday showings of all their movies in the 7:00 hour, and those are the showings we're shooting for. If you see something coming up there that you'd like to recommend as our Living Room movie of the week, message me or post it on the board by Wednesday the previous week!

See you at the movies!

RUN AND JUMP

A headstrong Irish housewife finds her life transforming in ways she never thought possible after her husband suffers a life-altering stroke, and an American doctor arrives to chronicle the family's recovery process in this intimate drama from director Steph Green (whose short film New Boy was nominated for an Oscar in 2007). In the wake of her husband's stroke, loving wife and mother Vanetia (Maxine Peake) gradually comes to realize that her household will never be the same again. Much to Vanetia's relief, a research grant from American doctor Ted Fielding (Will Forte) provides the funds needed to remain financially afloat. Ted wants to study how the family copes with such a severe trauma, and though at first his presence in the home strikes a chord of resentment in the overburdened Vanetia, he exhibits an air of tranquility that soon becomes a source of deep comfort to her. Likewise, Vanetia's unwavering strong will awakens a newfound sense of vitality in the reserved Dr. Fielding, resulting in growth and healing for all involved.

Jamie S. Rich - THE OREGONIAN

"Green's resolution is sensitive, expected, yet visionary. And, like the rest of the film, it is shot with a magnificent play of color and light that makes the characters' corner of the world seem like the cradle of compassion."
Inkoo Kang - LOS ANGELES TIMES

"Run & Jump is as real and messy as life itself. "
Stephen Holden - THE NEW YORK TIMES

"With remarkable warmth and immediacy, Green and co-scripter Keogan have managed to capture the beauty of an obviously flawed family, one neither too perfect nor too demographically balanced to ring true, and imbue it with a sense of plenitude that seems to flow as much from the sun-drenched land itself as from the quirkily particular personalities involved."

subdued but positive and insightful responses to the film with less discussion than I ever remember. Also the quietest evening in the L.R lounge. Thanks, everybody!

I love movies that make me think about them the next day. Good discussion. Keep in mind that next Monday is a holiday, so no discount pricing. It'll cost $9 to get in.

Darn! The one car with chains has left the home front. So sad to be missing PIFF and this event. Hope this will melt off by tomorrow!
