“This is one of the local versions of MOFGA's popular spring GYOOG workshop offered throughout the state via Adult Ed programs. Our own LisaF is facilitating this one in Scarborough and space is limited.”
Eating the organic way, with a garden of your own, yields powerful benefits to both health and environment. This class will cover: basics of soil science and how to enrich soil to produce healthy high-yielding plants, making and using compost, principles of crop rotation, incorporating green manures and managing nutrients, differences between cultivated plants and weeds, weed control strategies, and natural insect control.
The workshop will run from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Free but must pre-register with Scarborough Adult Ed (ONLINE or by calling 730-5040). There is a $5 materials fee payable to MOFGA during class. The instructor of the Scarborough workshop will be Lisa Fernandes, organizer of the Portland Maine Permaculture Group.
