September Permablitz at Ben & Jesse's House!

Join us for the next event in this season of permablitz!  On Saturday, September 28th we'll be converging on Jesse and Ben's house in Westbrook for the day.

Permablitzes are day-long work parties that put permaculture design into action! Imagine more than twenty permaculture folks working side-by-side for six hours resulting in more than 180 labor hours completed in one day, great fun, conversation, and camaraderie as well as experiential learning for all!

Our hosts:  Jesse and Ben have been active members of the permaculture community in Portland. They joined the meetup in 2010  and have been dedicated to learning as much as they can about hands on, practical permaculture since then. They recently hosted an intro to permaculture course at their house and have been active apprentices with Lisa and Dave weekly and have been at every blitz we've hosted this season.

This blitz promises to be ambitious: with 1/2 acre and big vision, it will be an incredible spread of projects that truly transform their yard. And it will be FUN. The word "perma-circus" has been tossed around!

This is part of a series of permablitzes in and around Portland in 2013.  Taking part in these events is one of the best ways to "put your name in the hat" for permablitzes at your own place in the future!

Hey everyone. I didn't know what the custom was for making friends at these events, but someone's recent email inspired me to reach out to you all in return. If anyone is interested in grabbing a cup of joe just shoot me your number via my profile's email link. I'm sure we could find at least one organic/sustainable coffee house at which to meet up for a chat!

Otherwise I'm sure I'll see you around at the next permablitz!

    Hi, guys--
My sister is the genius behind the Schoolground Greening event Saturday morning. I hope to be at your place for the opening circle and then catch a couple of their tours that are running between 9 and 1. It's going to be a little on and off. I"ll bring Will in the afternoon.
Looking forward! (Hope you got our poor tree's woodchips OK...)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it as Saturday is the only day my mother really needs help moving. I wish I could be there but I will definitely be there in spirit!

Is anybody from the peninsula going that could give me a lift? I'm happy to meet you where ever is best, just let me know where and when. Much appreciated!

    1 · September 24, 2013

    • carol k.

Hi Tyler. I don't live on the peninsula, but am going to the farmer's market at Deering Oaks about 8am and dropping purchases back home before heading to Jesse and Ben's. I could meet you there -- or pick you up if you are not close by. Caroli

That would be tremendous Carol, thank you! Is there a stand you frequent or a landmark that you'd like to meet at?

      September 25, 2013

  • Elaine

I can't join in but I applaud all of you. My late husband Francis and I were beneficiaries of many morning + potluck work parties which greatly helped to create this Eden where I live - thanks to . . . yes, our own hard work, but the help of this wonderful community!

Unfortunately, this conflicts with the Maker Faire in Lewiston, so I'm tentatively planning on coming for part of the day to help out, but I probably will not make it for the full time due to prior commitments. If this is problem, let me know and I won't show and just wish y'all luck from afar! :)

      Hazel,

Any time you can spend is appreciated!
