Medicinal Herbs for the Permaculture Garden

Join community herbalists Cathleen Miller and Mischa Schuler for an engaging look at some of our most beloved plant allies.  We'll look at some slides, taste some teas, and discuss planting needs and multiple functions of various herbs.  We will discuss how adding key medicinals to your landscape can promote health in the entire system--land, body, mind, heart.

Mischa Schuler is a community herbalist and fertility awareness practitioner in Portland, Maine where she specializes in women's reproductive health and children's health. She offers herbal classes and consultations, as well as fertility awareness and plant spirit medicine classes.  She facilitates a monthly community medicine making class which provides medicine for The Herb Room clinic and an opportunity for participants to taste the plants and head home with something they've made!  Her greatest teachers are the plants and she feels tremendous gratitude that she is able to share their gifts through teaching, gardening, and in consultation.

Cathleen Miller grew up in the woods and mountains of Western Pennsylvania, where she began her deep relationship to the earth.  She studied Environmental Ethics at the University of North Texas, immersing herself in ecofeminism and bioregionalism.  She moved to Maine in 2010 and finished her PDC in 2011 with Lisa Fernandes and Charles and Julia Yelton.  Cathleen is a community herbalist and gardener in Portland, Maine. She has studied herbalism for many years, both on her own and with her teachers Maia Toll, Deb Soule, and many others.  She practices meditation and views this as key to coming back into right relationship with all of life.

Cathleenand Mischa, loved it, thank you! I especially liked the way you two split the duties of sharing about the plants....I think it elevated the energy of the event. I left wanting to work more closely with several of my plants. Great event.

Thank you Cathleen and Mischa for putting on a informative event. It was wonderful to see the herbs in action as they cooled and reduced the inflammation on my thorn scrapes. This morning my scrape with lotion is totally healed while the one I did not treat is still inflamed. I am defiantly planting the Bee balm that you gratefully gave me. Mischa I think your plant is going in isolation till it I figure out mystery of what it is that will be fun to watch. Thanks again

I didn't put myself on the wait list but would love to attend another evening on this topic! Smiling to think of you all gathered at The Resilience Hub, though I'm not physically amongst you! :-)

Hello everyone! We are very excited to have such interest in the subject of medicinal plants, and look forward to sharing some of our favorites with you on Tuesday.

Because we have such a big wait list, if you feel that you can't make it, please change your RSVP to make space for people who can come. We are grateful for your enthusiasm!
