Started this group in 2005 as a positive response to peak oil & climate change. Had been a casual student of permaculture since early 90s & realized that it provided many practical tools & skills for building resilience and community.
In my case, suburban. But I hope the group can facilitate the application of permaculture in all of the above settings.
Good people. Great food. Genuine interest in sustainable living. "Get out there and do it" attitudes.

I learned about permaculture in the early 90s while spending a summer in Ireland. Subsequently took my first workshop in 1993. Have been practicing components of permaculture for many years.
"Please be patient if when contacting me as I a) only get online about 2x/wk (for any substantial amount of time) & b) often "shut off" technology during family time or when I'm in the garden. It make take a few days for me to get back to you! "
Because people are searching for concrete ways to deal with economic, energy and environmental uncertainties. Positive, practical solutions that create simple abundance will win out.

One in Six American Households Are "Food Insecure"
"Good points, Sue. I remember Sharon saying something about...what's the point of having all this fresh local food if most people have no clue what to do with it? i.e. they could still go hungry."
"My finished compost tends to be not quite finished; in other words there are still bits of organic matter an TONS of worm eggs after I run my aged piles through our compost screen...."
