Introduction

Started this group in 2005 as a positive response to peak oil & climate change. Had been a casual student of permaculture since early 90s & realized that it provided many practical tools & skills for building resilience and community.

How did you find this particular group?

What interests you about this particular group?

Good people. Great food. Genuine interest in sustainable living. "Get out there and do it" attitudes.

Are you living/gardening/growing predominantly in an urban, suburban or rural setting?

In my case, suburban. But I hope the group can facilitate the application of permaculture in all of the above settings.

Do you have any sustainable/resilient living skills that you'd be interested in sharing? Any that you'd like to learn?

  • Welcome, Lisa,
With your experience and knowledge, I deeply appreciate your interest in connecting with us. Your Portland Group is amazing...in membership and events! We are currently working together with the Seacoast Permaculture Group, and soon with Steve Whitman to form a Mountains/Lakes Region Group in New Hampshire. I look forward to an ever-increasing network of permaculture enthusiasts/communities.
    Hope to meet you soon!

  • Happy New Year Lisa!

I am just getting started on introducing permaculture to my property. I am aware of Bill Mollison's books but am looking for something related to our local area. Can you recommend some reading for me?

    Thank You!

  • Hi Lisa!

My partner Jon and I are back from Argentina and would love to start attending the meetup group meetings again if you could make sure we're included on the mailing list.
    My email address is: [masked]

Also, I would love to take the permaculture design course at some point soon. Do you know when the next one will be scheduled? (Congrats on filling the 2011 course!) If you could put me on the list and let me know I would be grateful.

    Thanks!

  • Super cool! We will be up in Maine within the new couple of months. We are super excited! Even MORE excited to be able to be in touch with folks who are like thinkers. I've managed to hook up with Christy at Gold Star Honeybees and some other folks. Looking forward to growing our food, trading plants/seeds/advice/stories/jokes. Looking forward to meeting you all and FINALLY getting to Common Ground this September.

I heard you guys had a plant swap recently. is the May "swap" going to be a plant swap? I'm looking for perennial divisions and have some to share. Thanks!
