I am a college business prof with sincere interest in sustainability. Just downsized to an empty nest in Portland-from 6 acres to a small lot & reliance on farmers mkts rather than homegrown. Anxious to learn how to use our little bit of land best.
learned about it through Lisa at Cape Farm Alliance
learning from others about more and different ways to weave sustainability into our daily lives.
I am a master gardener (class of 2003) and Master Food preserver (1st class in 2009) and am now challenged by tiny garden space in Portland and reliance on 2 CSA shares.

Permermaculture: the way life 'will' be. LOL
If you will, can I ask you a business question?
The current paradigm is based on scarcity. Is it possible to transition into a system based on abundance, like Jacque Fresco's, proposed 'Venus Project' or are there other's which don't require such a 'futuristic' canvas?
Welcome to the group!
Thanks for piping up! Maybe we can work with Lisa F. and find an appropriate place to do a canning workshop later this summer, unless you know of somewhere already? I received canning equipment from my mother for Christmas and can't wait to put it to use! How many people could reasonably attend, and what kind of charge would be appropriate? This is all new to me - I just put the feelers out there in hopes something would manifest. :)
hi beth! i am seriously thinking of adding bees as the next step on the homestead here. where did you get your bees? did you end up taking one of the courses offered by the maine beekeepers assoc to learn the ins and outs, or where did you go to learn? if you want to chat via email that's great, i'd just love to know how/where you got started, and of course, any tips you can offer for a beginner. :) thanks! katie
I tried to contact you before, perhaps unsuccessfully, about reading my manuscript. Please email me at [masked] if you are still interested. I would greatly appreciate your take on the book. Each reader enriches the text.
Many Blessings, Merry
