Just had an idea that made me realize, I am thinking permacultureisticly (there's a word for ya) and had to share.
Just finished laundry and thought there needs to be a way to spin all the dryer lint back into yarn so I can knit replacement socks that get "lost" in the laundry. -dave |

I no longer use a dryer (all of my clothes are line/air dried - yes, even in the winter), and so I don't need to reuse dryer lint, but back in the day, I used dryer lint to make firestarters. Put a bit of dryer lint in a paperboard egg carton and top with melted candle wax - thus reusing the egg cartons, dryer lint, and candle ends.
I don't know about spinning the lint back into yarn (I think it would not be sturdy enough), but if you google making felt from dryer lint, there are a lot of links out there, and even if you can't make socks, you can make paper. So, it can be reused : ). |
