By its name, you would think that pgpool is a connection pooler for PostgreSQL. It is, but it can do much more than just connection pooling. Pgpool has evolved into a powerful middleware application that can help you scale your data layer. This month Anson Abraham will discuss some of the powerful things pgpool can do including:

- Load Balancing
- High Availability
- Parallel Query

About Anson Abraham:
Anson is a Sr. Postgres DBA at Mojiva. Prior to Mojiva, he worked with PostgreSQL and Hadoop at Viggle. Anson has over a decade of experience in the financial and advertising industry running a diverse set of databases including Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL in addition to his deep expertise in PostgreSQL.
