Hello all,

I plan on going to this event:

While it is not post-modern as such, it still features one of our 'nominated authors' (and a personal favourite of mine) Julian Barnes. Please do join me if it is of interest to you.

Very interesting! It's at the LSE on the 16th September at 7pm everyone. I'm keen to read his last book, on the death of his wife, but this discussion looks like it will be very pertinent for all those who've been reading the Master and Margarita and either enjoying or not their chosen translation...

Thanks for making my post clearer, Richard - in my infinite wisdom, I failed to actually specify when it is, sorry.

Hope to see some of you there - let me know if you plan on going and we'll make sure to meet up

Hi all,

One attended this event this evening - one didn't get a chance to ask one's prepared question - as such, one is vexed, irked, and riled. But it was very good.

In case ya'll are interested, there's an audio library website from the Royal Society and I suspect this evening's shenanigans will be made available there eventually. In the interim, there are some interesting bits there already from previous events.

Just FYI - happy listening

Thanks for sharing, Perle, and sorry it wasn't more of a Q&A. It's always a shame, I think, when the audience are excluded in these kinds of events.

Oh - there was a good, long Q&A - just not long enough after all - but ain't that always the case...
