Contra Dance

Hi Dancers,

There will be a contra dance at the Manitou Springs City Hall, 606 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs. Beginners are welcome, but should attend the beginner lessons at 7:00 PM. The dance starts at 7:30 PM. Nick Wilson calling, with music by Toe Dusters.

Pikes Peak Traditional Dance has existed in some form since 1985, so the number of dancers that will be at a dance will be far more than who RSVPed through this meetup.

Please read the welcome message on the home page for more details.

great music, several young dancers that did well, Peggy had a great idea to put fans up in the windows and it was much cooler. Nice selection of dances.

Is there parking available or do we need to park on the street at the new meters?

There is free parking on El Paso which is the street right before the dance hall. There is a big train engine at that street and just turn there and plenty of parking along a park. Very safe also and if you need an escort after the dance no problem.

Shoes with a little slide work best but some dancers wear sandals, hiking boots and flats. Wearing high heels does not work well at all and tennis shoes doesn't work too well either.
    See you soon.

Do you need to wear shoes that will slide on floor or will ant comfortable shoe work? Yes...I will be new at this.

Pikes Peak Traditional Dance always welcomes new people. Please dress lightly as the hall does get warm. Wear comfortable shoes and see you soon.

There is always a beginner lesson before each dance. We welcome beginners and are always glad to see them again.
