Hello and namaste fellow yoga lovers.  I hope this finds everyone peaceful and well after a restful..or at least exciting weekend.  By now, the school year has begun for most, and as the summer winds down, once again many of us are adjusting our minds and schedules for autumn.  With adjustments often come change, and as we know, change is inevitable.  So in honor of change I wish everyone peace in embracing the process and finding that balance between riding it out and controling what is possible. For practice on my yoga mat is a crucial tool in being able to find that balance by shifting my focus inward, cultivating awareness and peace.  I call this getting in shape from the inside out, and while my initial attraction to yoga was only that of dropping some weight and looking better, being able to be calmer, less stressed, of service to others, and to quiet some of that inner chatter has been the anchor that keeps me on my mat. No matter what, I know I will always be the matter how long I continue to teach yoga as well.

Please note that I only email this list every 2-6 weeks or so and never share your email address with ANYONE.  If you do not wish to receive my rare emails to the list, you can opt out of the mailing list AND stay in the group by changing the settings on your meetup page or emailing me with your full name so i can try to take you off the list while keeping you in the group.  thanks....

And now...on with the newsletter.
MONDAYS 6-7pm Beginning Sept 5th!!

Beginning Labor Day, Monday Sept. 5th, from 6-7pm, I am offering another gentle class.  The Tuesday evening class has grown since I began it nearly a year ago, so thanks to the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, I am now able to offer a 2nd gentle class each week.  This class is appropriate for all bodies, fitness levels, age range from teens to 80 somethings and even those recovering from injury*.

Here's a link to the class:

*always check with your doctor and contact me prior to class to discuss details.

I believe that everyone who wants to practice yoga should be able to practice...I also believe that most of us do what we truly find important to do...that becomes our priority.  The economy has been challenging for us I offer great class card specials (see below), barter opportunities, and low drop in rates.  I have 3 weekly classes that are only $7/class with the other non-studio classes only $10/drop in.  Also, anyone that takes 2 classes in a one week (sun-sat) period gets the 2nd class for only $5; likewise, bring a new friend to my studio and the friend pays only $5.  No money, no you have a service or item that you'd like to trade for classes?  I'm open to your ideas and offers!

The Wednesday Vinyasa Class has changed back to 6pm for now.  The attendance has been light and I am considering either changing the time again to 6:15 or 6:30pm and/or changing this to a yoga flow class which is a bit more beginner-friendly.  If you want this class to stay on the schedule, please support it by checking it out...I will accommodate your needs but you have to LET ME KNOW! I welcome your feedback!
THIRD: OUTDOOR YOGA!! OPTIONS: SATUDAY MORNING Vinyasa Class is now 9am to beat the heat and is located in  Olmstead Park  Like last year, the class is in the sweet little park in front of the Self Discovery Center at the corner of Springdale and Ponce de Leon Ave.  GPS can be wonky when trying to find it, so I recommend simply using a map or going to my meetup page for the directions.  It's actually quite simple: it is a block away from the intersection of Moreland Ave. & Ponce de Leon Ave.   Each week by around Thursday, Friday at the latest, if the weather forecast shows rain or storms, I will announce an alternate location.

FOURTH: In case you missed it... ELEPHANTJOURNAL.COM published me!!  Hope you can check it out and please, share the link with friends and feel free to comment on the article and to click to recommend it to others!  ..either go to the site and search for Lisa Cohen or go directly here:

CLASS PRICES...drop in rates are an affordable $7-$10/class depending on which class, and class cards are available for $75.  $75 includes unlimited classes (hot yoga classes at Ember and Decatur Yoga  and Ashram are not part of my class card deal) for one person for 2 months OR TWO persons for 1 month.  So bring a friend and sign up if you'd like...$37.50/ea gets a month of classes.  Please...Do NOT let money be a factor regarding your yoga practice...I am all about CREATIVE FINANCING!!  I can always use some help with mowing the lawn and some basic lawn care, and I also trade for services such as cleaning, house maintenance, computer help, massage, reflexology, body work and even yoga classes!  JUST ASK!

Remember...ALL bodies are welcome in my classes...there is a class for you...I'm here if you need guidance. case you'd like to read about what goes on in my head...scary is my blog!  My intention is to write something at least every 6 weeks or so.  Feel free to follow me on the blog and/or comment!

Thanks for your support and kindness and positive energy. I truly lived a blessed life to be able to spend so much of it on or near the yoga mat!
Stay in touch and please share my links with friends who may be interested in yoga.
