Speedlights for Studio Portraiture

Many of you have come out for the "Speedlight Short Course" and learned how to use your speedlight on-camera to get better results. As much fun as that has been, many of you have asked for a workshop taking the next step – learning how to do portraiture with an off-camera speedlight.

In this three-hour workshop, we'll cover everything you need to know to get you started using a single speedlight to create great portraits including the following:

  • Equipment considerations
  • Modifiers
  • Nailing exposure and white balance
  • Perfecting light placement
  • How to use a single speedlight to do three things at once – main light, fill light and background light
  • Poses that always work
  • Tricks, traps and things to avoid

All you'll need to bring is your camera – everything else is provided. You'll work with a professional model and have time to shoot and try out the new techniques you learn.

Date: Tuesday, February 5th

Time: 6:30-9:30pm
