Who organized?
Eric Michalsen and Harmony

We were unsure about the location requested in regards to foraging rules, and not wanting to just go blindly in, we have to make a decision. So, back to the Red Oak Nature Center.

Rest assured we are looking for places in the city. We are looking at an Urban Foraging class in September along with some other activities. If you have a location, please supply the contact information for the management so that we can get the proper permission.

If you are taking the train out Sunday morning please give a holler by Saturday night as to what time your train gets in, and which station (Aurora or Geneva) and we can arrange to pick you up.

I am really looking forward to this as I know Harmony has been hitting the books and taking classes. This is going to be a lot of fun.

I-88 to Farnsworth exit North. (Outlet Mall)
Farnsworth to Ry 56/Butterfield Left. (BP gas station on left)
Rt 56/Butterfield to Rt 25/River Rd. Right (Citgo gas station on left)
Rt 25/River Rd 1 mile to Red Oak Nature Center on left (Golf club on right)

Meeting in parking lot until a bit after 1pm, then into the woods.
Cell phone is [masked]

I'll let you know how the tea turns out! Also, I picked a bunch of wild carrots from my mom's yard today. I gotta figure out what to do with them.

I'll be bringing my Peterson Guides and a dose or two of ipecac! ;) I'm not in the city, but near us in Naperville, there is a large and highly vegetated forest preserve - Greene Valley - that I've checked out. *shrug*

    •  Great field trip! First time out with the group. Very nice folks! I thought this meetup on forage was very educational and informative. It helps to get out there and do these things in practice along with others that are as involved as yourself. It makes the learning much more enjoyable. It also helps to reinforce skills and knowledge you *think* you have - but can confirm.
    •  This was one of our co-organizers--Harmony's presentation. She was professional, informative, engaging and interesting. She did her homework, and knew many of the plants in the area. All in all she did a wonderful job, and we all had the benefit of her excellent company and knowledge. Those of you that did not attend missed a very informative workshop. There is no question that every time we get together there is something both interesting and educational. We learn from each other. Make the four hour round trip from Wisconsin, and I think it is the best deal out there.
    •  Nice informal food foraging outing. Good group of people.
    •  Enjoyed the event - learned a lot and really great people in attendance. Thanks!
