What's our group about? Real people who believe in humanity and community, where you and I come together in unity. There are no strangers, only friends we have yet to make. We're a selected group of *interesting people. Open-minded and intelligent, hopeful rather than hopeless, assertive yet not overly aggressive, spunky and sassy, bold yet pleasant, loud-mouthed yet meek, independent and... friendly. Technocratic solutions to a communal future.
This group is intended for Professionals with a focus on career development. As organizer of this group, I currently work in Career Services with a background in technical staffing. I've sourced for large, enterprise firms of Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies and currently also serving as Community Coordinator for Social Media Club - Los Angeles. (#smcla) I'm networked with a number of business/executive coaches as well as career strategists and employers with over 500+ connections through LinkedIn, all of whom I've known and interacted with, those who I can recommend and possibly refer.
On the social side, we've done beach and pool parties, rollerblading/biking/hiking events, kayaking, chocolate tasting and more! There was even a Meetup for drinks in Waikiki, Honolulu that brought out 4 members! Otherwise, we've also had volunteer events such as the LA Regional Foodbank and Heal the Bay Beach Cleanup or else scientific events such as talks on gravitational waves at CalTech or an exclusive tour of JPL including the Mars Science Laboratory and Mission Control.
The key to benefiting from our group is to simply join us at events! No matter how often you join us, you will always find someone new to meet. Your active participation, whether a couple times a month or once a quarter, ensures that you will benefit by forming solid business and social relationships.
