PROJECT FAMOUS: Artist Collective
Project Famous is a collective of Madison-based artists who are inspired by creating art together in a supportive and constructive environment. Artists of all ages, skill levels, and abilities are welcome. Membership can include musicians, performance artists, filmmakers, vloggers, photographers, graphic artists, writers, singers, actors, models, etc.
Members meet on a regular basis to create art in all its forms. On occasion we discuss topics relevant to their art, its production, and its promotion. Artists can offer each other constructive critiques, volunteer to help with each other’s projects, and cross-promote the art of members.
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions:
WHEN DO WE MEET?
During active projects we meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This is best determined by the participants of any active project.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Project Famous is a trio of entities: a publication, a production company, and our artist collective. These three areas help us focus on building a stronger bond with local artists and art enthusiasts. Creating a useful network becomes an essential tool for the artist and is a key factor for success in any field.
Collective: Project Famous artist collective can work on anything from mask-making, to short film production independent from Project Famous Films, to word art jams, to open art jams, and anything else participants and members want to work focus on. Our busy and fun network is growing every day!
Publication: Project Famous Magazine: a magazine for artists by artists. Project Famous is a digital publication that is published at www.projectfamous.com. The magazine focuses on independent artists from Madison. Run by fellow collective member, Kelly Lajter and founder, Joey Broyles, Project Famous Magazine covers fashion, Madison nightlife, film, theatre, arts, life lessons, and features a local artist(s). If you are a writer, photographer, make-up artist, hair stylist or artist we are always looking to add on to our volunteer staff.
Production Company: Project Famous Films produces a professional caliber of films, music videos, and live productions. If you are searching for your place in the independent film industry, consider sending us a resume or becoming an active volunteer. We also participate in the 48-Hour Film Project every year and host an annual screenwriting competition.
ARE THERE ANY FEES/DUES?
Starting October 1, 2014, a $24 yearly fee will be owed to our Meetup.com group page. After over two years of inception, we have decided that to maintain Project Famous online, these fees are required for participation in this group. These fees will be used towards the cost of the Meetup.com page as well as towards supplies for official artist collective project meetups, and snacks & beverages for those meetups. We will continue to share the responsibility in bringing refreshments to meetups, and in offering ridesharing where possible. While we understand that being an artist is not cheap, and money is tight for everyone, this low membership fee will be used for the overall benefit of our artist collective.
WHAT IF I MISS A MEETUP?
Each meet up has a different goal in mind. If you miss one, it should not stop you from coming to the next. We keep our projects short and fun, while still building a network of dedicated and passionate members.
WHEN CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE PROJECT FAMOUS FACEBOOK GROUP?
There are many variables to consider in becoming a part of the Facebook group. We are a welcoming group and the members of the Facebook group are actively involved in the collective. We have many members who join our Meetup group, but do not attend any function. Therefore to be considered for the Facebook group, you must actively be involved or contribute for three months before being added to the Facebook group. We cannot collect “friends” in this section of our collective; it’s not about exclusivity just a fair way to earn the trust of others in the collective. Simone LaPierre is our artist collective manager and you must be friends with her on Facebook to be added to the group.
