Project Nabuur Initiatives is a Kenyan civil society organization that directly promotes the freedom of inquiry, reason and science in all areas of human endeavor. It woks with lawyers, environmentalists and researchers around the world to provide assistance to local communities in facing developmental challenges. The organisation draws upon volunteers and supporters who are enthusiastic about our agenda and wish to take part in our movement.
The purpose of this organization is to provide Natural Resource and Social Science students with social and professional opportunities through community projects, tours for children, seminars, social events, and much more.
Our mission Statement shall be "commitment to conservation of biodiversity through scientific research on flora and fauna" with the aims of:
· protection and monitoring of endangered species
· resolution of human-wildlife conflicts
· the role of community in conservation
· the interaction of laboratory animal science with wild animal conservation and
· the investigation of zoonotic diseases of public health importance.
All members of Project Nabuur Stiftung accept responsibility for protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural environment of the areas in which they operate. They undertake to implement sound environmental practices in all their operations, the properties they manage and/or promote, the destinations they manage and the natural areas they visit. All this is done in collaboration with the communities they are part of. Overall, they seek:
To be proactive and innovative in their environmental programs
To minimize waste and pollution of natural resources like water, land, and air
To minimize the amount of waste generated without injury to the environment
To participate in management of the natural areas in which they operate
To comply with all relevant environmental legislation
To educate their visitors about their natural areas and local cultures
To actively participate in programs developed to promote sustainable tourism
To have clear environmental goals
To develop linkages with local communities in the areas in which they operate
Mr. Boaz Adhengo is the Chairman for Project Nabuur Initiatives in Kenya and the Founding President of the Institute for African Ecology and Philosophy.
