Kowloon, Hong Kong
We’re giving the CYL kids a chance to try something completely new – slacklining! CYLF is a foundation working to help underprivileged children in Hong Kong and China. For more information go to http://changingyounglives.org.hk/.
We’ll be out in a BBQ area near the Kowloon reservoir so there’ll be plenty of space for ball throwing, Frisbee, and other stuff too. When the kids are gone, we’ll have the area set up for a bit of slacking ourselves.
▀ We need 25 volunteers, split into two teams - the first (and largest) group of people will help keep an eye on the kids to make sure they don’t run off or hurt themselves, and a few people with slackline experience will man each line.
▀ Volunteers should make their way to the Kowloon Reservoir BBQ area at by 12:30. It’s a 30 minute ($110ish) cab journey from Central or an hour and a bit on public transport – take the MTR to Lai Chi Kok, go out Exit A and take a left when you exit the station. Directly in front of you is the #72 bus stop. Hop on the #72 and keep an eye on the destination board. Press the bell when “Kowloon Reservoir” pops up. The journey will take less than 30 minutes. When you get off, turn left and walk down the road a couple of minutes. The BBQ area staircase will be on your right.
▀ We'll have quick briefing at BBQ area for all volunteers before the kids arrive. There will be ~20 kids attending, so it will be lots of fun!
▀ Things to bring:
- Bug spray – lots of it, for yourself and the kids
- Sunscreen and hat if its sunny
- Snacks – there’s nowhere to buy food nearby
- We’re in a BBQ area so if you want to cook up anything, you’re more than welcome!
