The Greenhouse at Scholastic
557 Broadway New York, NY
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Special Cocktail Hour with Medea
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Award Ceremony

Medea is known for speaking up at Senate hearings and using creative tactics like flash mobs, banner drops and colorful dress to get press for the peace movement.  When Medea interrupted President Obama’s speech at the National Defense University to testify against drone killings and indefinite detention at Guantanamo prison, the president said, “The voice of that woman is worth paying attention to.”  We agree.  Medea Benjamin is a tireless advocate and a role model for everyone we know working for a nuclear weapons-free world, moving the money from the Pentagon to fund human needs, and promoting diplomacy – not war – to resolve conflict.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
