June Field Trip: FIRETRUCKS!

This is going to be fun! With the help of Art Spear, a Provo City fireman (and a meetup photo club member!) we have arranged to have our field trip at a Provo City fire station. Please, don't start a fire that night, so our trucks, vehicles and brave firemen will be available to shoot and work with. We are welcome to bring friends and models with us to join in the fun. If you plan on using photos for any thing other than personal work... bring your release forms. We will meet directly at the station, see the address above. More parking is on the south end of the station lot, but we may have to park in the street if too many cars come. Car pooling is a good idea. If you want to park at East Bay Studios (our normal home) and be there by 6:45, we can car pool from there. Otherwise, see you at the station at 7. We will have a few good hours of daylight, but be prepared to shoot indoors too.. so a flash may be handy. I haven't been to the fire station for a long time. I think this is a great idea. Thanks Art!!

For a newbie like myself, it was great to have access in a set up like that. Also, having the opportunity to meet others with greater knowledge and willingness to share it.

Thanks Pete for putting this thing together.

Thanks to Art for letting us into his work and world. I think everyone had a great time. Lots of photos being taken and lots of teaching happening. I am so glad that our group shares so much info and knowledge with each other. Anybody with a Sony I can get some help with? :)

The firestation was a fabulous location--thanks for making the arrangements! I enjoyed meeting new associations who taught me more about photography and let me use their lenses!

Art says that we will have limited access to the the equipment at the station. Because of the need to be ready to roll out at any given moment, we will be given some access to gear!

How about discussing how to do lighting indoors when there are reflective items, such as the chrome of the truck? Different lighting techniques/effects?
Maybe this isn't an issue for others, but I've had some trouble in the past with models at an indoor pond and at indoor car shows.

We could discuss the proper way to put out various types of fires! Electrical...Grease...what else is there?

ART!! Can you respond to this one?

    Kevin W. asks....
This sounds like fun? Will we have access to their equipment? Boots, coats, masks?

As a part of this field trip, we could take a few minutes and do some instruction. Since we will be at a fire station with truck, firefighters, etc.. what topic would you suggest as being appropriate?

Looking for ideas here... what do you want to learn?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
