Robert Forte is an independent scholar of the history and psychology of religion. -Mainstreaming Entheogens: Psychological, Religious, and Political Considerations
I'm left asking myself what are the reference points for my own process.
When traditional spiritual techniques are removed from their original context or "view",
there's a lot of potential for misunderstanding and related errors.
In the Western materialistic worldview yogic techniques become subject to the goals of (quoting Liu Ming) "self-improvement for the middle class".
Tenzin Wangyal on the incongruence of two different world views:
"Eastern spiritual practice is about how to get liberation from Samsara.
Western psychology is about how to make Samsara better. "
I need to ask myself (not anyone else) where I am going, what are my goals, and what do I serve ?
I'll have to consider that what is good for my soul/being might be challenging to other aspects of self, such as my ego, sense of approval, physical and psychological comfort, my physical body, and my sanity- w respect to social norms.

I've got a sched conflict; I wonder if Sunday's sessions could be audio and/or video recorded? Seems like a good idea to have such a 'reference library' of these great offerings, right? Being limited by time/space is so old fashioned!
November 4
I am not free all day but would love to hear Robert Forte's talk. May I get the schedule and drop in for part of the day?
November 3
Sunday, 11/4 is the start of Standard Time, yes? So we should make sure not to show up an hour early.
