He returns to the San Francisco Psychedelic Society for a special hands-on event: IN THE WILD! Mushroom Hunt and Identification.
During this event Alan Rockefeller will take us around Golden Gate park and show us the basics of mushroom hunting and identification. We will look at the mushrooms that grow wild in the park including some species that are edible.
Alan will show you the basics of IN THE WILD mushroom identification including:
• San Francisco's edible, toxic and hallucinogenic species
• Common lookalikes
• Mushroom identification
• Mushroom habitats
• And More
$5-20 suggested donation--Your donation directly helps the society put on more events like this. Please contribute what you can.
The trip will be packed with lots of information that will be interesting and informative to mushroom fans. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Hey everyone... I had an amazing time, and learned an overwhelming amount about the fungus amongus. I just wish my short term memory was a little better. Those latin names... whew. Anyhoosies, here a few of the shots I snapped while there. There are some faces in the mix, and if I should pull these down, please let me know and I'll pull them down immediately. Super fun times, and I hope to see y'all again, real soon.

Much thanks to all of you who made this happen and Allen for being a great source of knowledge! What a wonderful crowd and a fantastic mushroomy day!
December 20
Hi everyone! I had a great time at the event. I took several pictures and did my best to write down as many of the names as possible. I looked them up afterwards and found the correct spellings and put them together into this photo album. There are 12 mushrooms in here, including that super rare double headed one (Agaricus Fuscovelatus), as well as the Psilocybe Cyanescens.

Thanks to Alan and for everyone who came out! We got lucky with a beautiful sunny day in the park and lots of specimens. For those who took mushroom pics, try to post them here for all to enjoy.

Excellent meetup! Great instruction on differentiating edible from poisonous varieties. I'm still not going to eat them though.

too popular! (i.e., crowded) but I would have been bummed if they'd curtailed enrollment before I got on, too... so, dunno

Anyone driving from the east bay, or have space in a car going from downtown? Not sure I'll be able to wrap up in time to make it from Oakland by public transit
December 20
Hello everyone! I've updated the map to pinpoint to the actual coordinates of the Murphy Windmill.
A few things to note:
There is a small chance it may rain tomorrow. If that happens the event is not cancelled. We'll be there hunting through the rain in our rain gear and hope you can too.
Since we will be travelling a bit we recommend coming on time so the group can try to stay together.
lastly
A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
While this trip's focus is to identify mushrooms in the wild, if we do run across any psilocybin containing mushroom we MUST NOT pick them. Identification is for education purposes only. Possession of said mushrooms is still against the law in the United States. Please stay within the law.

If I'm late (& I expect to be), where might I be able to catch up, or perhaps a phone number of someone, to find out where group is after 12p? Thanks.
