"A Secure Base" by John Bowlby

As Bowlby himself points out in his introduction to this seminal childcare book, to be a successful parent means a lot of very hard work. Giving time and attention to children means sacrificing other interests and activities, but for many people today these are unwelcome truths. Bowlby’s work showed that the early interactions between infant and caregiver have a profound impact on an infant's social, emotional, and intellectual growth. Controversial yet powerfully influential to this day, this classic collection of Bowlby’s lectures offers important guidelines for child rearing based on the crucial role of early relationships.

Hi there! I enjoyed this meetup. It was the first time I could share my interests with like-minded people, as none of friends are interested in this subject. I´d love to attend more Psychology meetups :)

Perhaps the rain kept people away, but I thought it was a really good discussion about the book and the concepts. I enjoyed meeting everyone (regulars and new memebers) and hope to see you again soon. Again, please feel free to post your book suggestions under the thread on the 'Discussions' tab (or email me). I'll look to schedule some future books to take us through the summer very soon.

Erm, I think she's not bringing her guest and asked if its possible if I could go instead. I'm not her guest just another random.

Hi, not that's fine. Please feel free to bring your guest. People are used to this venue and it is the rare meetup where people have not been able to find a seat in our usual spot.

Hi there, I am not bringing any guest, I don´t know why it says so. I guess Kish could attend as he seems very interested. Thanks

    Dear Lisa,

Is it rude to ask if I can come along? Just bought to the book today and really want to talk about it as I'm thinking about becoming a child psychiatrist.

    Thanks

Could another venue be found to accommodate everyone that wants to attend? Thanks

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
