Brandi used to love the snow. But when she stepped into the snow and sank in up to her ears, that was it she wanted to come inside. I had to clear some of the grassey area for her to go out and do her business. I guess my neighbors think I am crazy for shoveling my grass. She will go and chase a snowball when I throw one. But of course it dissapears, into the rest of the snow, and she looks funny trying to figure out where it went. And then comes up with snow all over her face.
Let's have some fun and hear from everyone about their pug snow stories.
Have fun, Brandi + John

Yep, shoveling the grass is definitely in order! Its the only way, besides just letting her go in the house. She seems to hate the cold snow on her feet and would much prefer to stay in the warm house. She is awfully cute though when she sniffs around the snow and comes up with a face full of powder! I also invested in a really nice coat for her, fleece and water repellent, but the problem is - she wont walk in it, like she gets embarrassed or something... I can get her halfway down my driveway then she stops, and she refuses to go to the bathroom in it, so much for that idea! Id get her booties but at this point im positive they wouldnt work either :) How bout posting some pictures somewhere? Enjoy the snow ;)love struck

I also have to shovel our grass to clear an area for Riley to do his business! My neighbors must think I'm crazy...I think I'm crazy but I just love him to death and will do anything for him!!! We were out in the snow yesterday before it was too deep and he loved it. He chased my husband pulling my daughter on her sled. He had a blast until his paws started to freeze and then he wanted back in the house. He was soooo funny running full blast and biting the snow making his black muzzle almost all white!!

We are having a crazy time with Rocco. Just when it seemed like we might be almost there with the potty training, down came the snow and got him all confused. I am going to go right home and shovel him a patch of grass, I can't believe we didn't think of that. I thought about the booties too, but I know that would just be an added distraction :o) After a few minutes out side he just will pick up one of his feet and walk around on three so he can keep one warm and off the cold ground. He liked the snow for about 5 minutes and now I think he's very much over it :o)

I also shoveled some snow to clear a path for my pug so he could do his business!!
My poor little guy also dislikes the cold. I took him outside a couple of times while my husband cleared the driveway, he sneezed all afternoon. There are also times, when he just starts whimpering and stops walking on the snow because i guess his paws get too cold? but other times he hops like a bunny all over the snow covered area.
I was looking forward to playing more on the snow with him, but I don't think he's too thrilled by it.

We also shovel our grass. I also felt a little crazy shoveling the grass in the yard, but if it works it works! Our fawn female is not fond of the snow at all. However they do like to be held and go sledding down the hill in our back yard.

Tom made a maize with the snowblower. We have a pretty large back yard and Tom cleared out a number of paths for the pugs to run around. My pugs with the larger paws don't seem to mind the cold and snow as much as the two I have with smaller legs and paws. I have to be very careful of Madison and Gizmo, they will get too far from the house and won't be able to get back, we have to carry them. They will stand in one spot and keep picking up one paw after another, not moving. Their paws give them a lot of trouble in the snow and cold. Gabriel and Tyler are like gazelles they bound around the paths and through the snow. All my male pugs are having a blast christening all of the new snow walls of their paths.love struck

Wow, what a great topic! I thought I was the only lunatic shoveling the grass for my pugs!!smile

Potus hates the snow (all precipitation, really), and exhibits all the traits mentioned here (licking cold paws, getting "stranded" when wandering too far, etc.).

Amazingly, Petunia loves the snow. She springs through it, looking a little like a jack rabbit. she loves sticking her face in it, eating it, pawing at it and making little clumps. She won't do her business though, unless there's a clear area. weird.

I actually don't have to worry about shoveling the snow for Lexus since I let her go on the puppy pad when it's cold out.

I did let her go outside and play with the snow when all the snow builded up though. I have to say she looked so cute hopping along like a bunny rabbit. Than she had snow on her face and it's the funniest site. She looked like Puggy Clause!

Hi there! Just wanted to thank you for your response regarding Gabby licking her paws. I spoke to the vet, and it is a food allergy. Onto Purina Pro Plan for sensitive tummies and skin!
