Please mark your calendars for our next event on Saturday, September 8th at 4:00pm. We'll be at the Humane Society headquarters on Fredericksburg Road...a nice air conditioned room so our pugs can enjoy some off-leash play time. As a reminder, please be sure your pugs are updated on all of their shots. Also, when you first arrive at our gathering, please take your pug to the back grassy area for a quick potty break...this will help alleviate any accidents in the room.

Kathleen & Deb run the San Antonio Pug Rescue...if you'd like further information, just check out http://www.sapr.petfinder.com.

Thanks to everyone for making this such a fun group to be a part of! Thanks & see ya soon! Di

My husband Joe and I had a GREAT time and we are looking forward to the Halloween Pug Parade! :-)

Not so. The baby didn't know how to eat or drink when we got her. We gave her water from a syringe, and thank God I had bought some puppy milk replacer "just in case"! The vet gave us some special food she could lick off a finger. Anyway. She's doing fine now... Drank water on her own for the first time yesterday (Saturday) and ate some puppy kibble from a dish for the first time today. She's almost potty trained (well, we still have to watch her!) and knows several words and phrases already.

Hope to make it to the Sept meeting, but we shall see. I'm a bit too protective of her at this point...

    Hi guys!
Wanted to fill you in about Annie... She's a wonderful, smart puglet who plays hard for 20 minutes, sleeps hard for 2 hours, and then does it all over again. She loves sleeping on her Daddy, and comes running at the sound of the microwave (she was/is eating special food which is warmed up).

But her breeder was very irresponsible. I was a bit concerned about taking her home at 6 wks, but the breeder (of the backyard kind) assured me that she was completely weaned and eating well.

Is it safe for my baby pug to go on the grass at the HS when she has only had her first round of shots? I'd like to bring her to the Sept mtg, but am concerned because a local trainer told me parvovirus is rampant right now. And -- I really hate to ask this, but -- are all the puggies in the Pug Club current on their shots? My vet said it was ok to let Annie socialize with other dogs as long as they are current on their shots. Please tell me what you think... :)

First of all, how exciting about Annie!!!! We do stress in our monthly reminders about our meetups that all pugs should be current on their shots...my hope is that everyone is, but I couldn't swear to it since we don't require you to bring in your shot records...if your little Annie has her first round of shots, I think she'd be fine...yes, parvo is bad now but it truly only affects those dogs who aren't immunized and trust me, this pug group is most likely over immunized, the way everyone takes such good care of them!!
