I'm seeking your help to win a grant with the objective of achieving 100% NO-Kill in Arizona by 2015. In exchange for your assistance, I will utilize the same blueprint for the state of California. Please join Team Vinny USA and lets end the needless killing of healthy pets. Please visit our Twitter page for more information.
One Hundred Per Cent No-Kill is 100% Achievable
Too many healthy pets are being killed because pet rescues are still using obsolete fundraiser models from the early 1900’s. Estimates are that over 1,000,000 healthy pets are euthanized every year in the United States and Canada. Among the many reasons given are, puppy mills who pump out pets at a rate of an assembly line. Then there are average shoppers whose compulsively buys pets in the mall only to realize within a few days that owning an animal involves work. There are also those pet owners who put off spaying or neutering with the intent of delivering one or two litters. These sources are responsible for the bulk of surrendered pets in local pounds who after a few days are euthanized.
No so obvious but every bit as deadly to healthy pets in pounds is the declining fundraising levels of the nations pet rescues. Over the past ten to fifteen years, donations to rescues have taken a steep dive forcing many rescues to even give up and close their doors. To make matters worse, too many pet rescues are still using the same old fundraiser models that were designed over 100-years ago that just won’t work in today’s economy. The consequently are deadly as over 20,000 pets are euthanized annually in cities the size of Phoenix, New Orleans or more in New York City.
The good news is that One-Hundred Per Cent No-Kill is 100% Achievable if pet rescue update their strategies by using 21st Century fundraiser models. Highly successful pet rescues of today resemble a small business more than the non-profit of yesterday. They’ve abandoned the passive “tell a sad story and hope someone will make a donation” strategy. The more successful rescues now collaborate with a new breed of social entrepreneurs. This new breed of business merge the needs of charitable organizations such as pet rescues with their for profit motives. In a nutshell, the business will create solutions for pressing problems such as pet rescues recurring needs for lots of moneys. The business then create a profit bearing model which will yield enough money to donate to the rescues while still making a healthy profit.
One such social entrepreneur is “Team Vinny” who has developed a pet rescue fundraising model which has the capacity to move the entire state of Arizona to 100% No-Kill by the year 2015.
Team Vinny’s plan calls for dividing $200,000 among all of the pet rescues of the state of Arizona. The team will then travel extensively throughout the state to conduct their 21st Century fundraiser training seminars and hold joint fundraisers. The over all objective is to configure all of the pet rescues in the state into an interactive body of cooperative, self-sustained fundraising profit centers who will be paid 30% to 50% by for their services. According to the teams’ projections, the pet rescues money problem in Arizona can be greatly diminished if not virtually eliminated leading the state to 100% No-Kill.
