**6/6/12 Changed the Meeting Time from 1:45 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.**
Representative Eileen Kowall (District 44-White Lake) will be introducing our group and the local area shelters to the Chairman of the House of Representatives and other representatives in Lansing on June 13th between 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.!
Plan to sport your anti-puppy mill flair (t-shirt and buttons) and stand on the balcony overlooking the session. We will have a gorgeous view.
We will be reminding lawmakers that we want to see the Puppy Protection Act passed - at minimum a hearing before the summer break! We are also lobbying for the Pet Lemon Law (but that is on the Senate side right now). Here is a link to our new legislative page.
Carpooling: Once RSVPs are in, we can try too coordinate carpooling through the Meetup Event comments. I will be coming from Clarkston and will have room for four others.
Add On Appointments: If you have not met with your representative or senator one-on-one, this may be a good time to set up an appointment. You can find your representative and senator and download Fact Sheets from our website.
Parking: There are six parking ramps within three blocks of the Capital. See our Pups Parade event for a map.
Meeting Location: Enter the Capital Building from the front lawn (Capitol Street) and use the doors under the steps on the ground level. We will gather near the front desk at 1:00 for t-shirts and buttons. Everyone should be ready to go at 1:45 to head up to the 3rd floor balcony. If you are running late, just ask the front desk for directions to the balcony.
Introduction Time: We will not have a set time for the introduction. We are asked to be there between 2:00 – 3:00 and wait until there is a opportunity to be introduced.
House TV: If you can’t make it, you can still watch on The House TV!
I certainly hope you can make it in person and give Michigan Dogs a voice in Lansing.
