       BOAT LIGHT PARADE SATURDAY  4:45PM

Watchers line the public docks and book tables for the waterfront restaurants to enjoy this yearly yuletide tradition. If that's not close enough, they can even book a seat on one of several passenger-licensed craft taking part in the event.

Newport's boat parade features a variety of watercraft, including charter boats, fishing boats, sail boats, kayaks and even the Coast Guard.

Newport’s Yaquina Bay will get festive in a particularly spectacular way this Saturday as a couple dozen boats take to the water festooned up in a variety of lights – all for the charity event known as The Annual Lighted Boat Parade.

On December 6th 2014 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM,

The many decorated boats will make a large loop around the bay, from the Coast Guard Station to the Embarcadero Resort and back, showing off a variety of colorful designs.

Watchers traditionally line the docks and fill the restaurants and shops on the historic Newport Bayfront to watch the glowing display.

The number of lights and designs have varied greatly.Boats in the parade have run with as few as one perfectly positioned strand of lights, a small battery powered Christmas tree on a kayak, to thousands of lights on the larger vessels.

Newport is home to the largest fishing fleet in Oregon and the boat parade will feature a variety of watercraft, including charter boats, fishing boats, sail boats and even sea kayaks. This event is different because while many similar festivities contain mostly private pleasure craft, this one includes many working fishing boats.

Annual Lighted Boat Parade also features a decorating competition. All mariners in Lincoln County are invited to enter and win a variety of prizes.

This is a fun way to launch this festive season of fundraising, joined together by people from all over the coastal community while showcasing Lincoln County’s beautiful boats and the Newport Bayfront.

Book a seat on one of several passenger-licensed craft taking part in the event.

Just saw this and it sounds great, but have dogs so can't do it, but wondering if you know if there are any other yurts available to possibly get another one so I could go and bring dogs. Please send # or info so I can check if it's a possibility. My dogs are small 7 and 20 pounds and very well behaved. Thanks.

I would like to reserve a space in a yurt, preferable w/o dogs, aquarium, do the lunch...in other words spend the whole time, Dec 5-6 up there, can drive if anyone else is interested in doing the whole thing that weekend. Should I expect to hear from someone? Need my telephone # ?

    • cindy m.

We only have one yurt Joe did get his own Yurt as I guess he could stand about 6 women in one Yurt. There maybe 2 dogs in the Yurt as we have already made res. 9 months out. Have you been to a Yurt its nice but its like a cabin its warm and dry it has beds that will sleep 5 + 2 air mattress you bring your bedding. You can give me a call if you need more info as we have been renting these for about 7 years Cindy[masked] or if your planning to come to any of the meetups
