This year's 75-foot Pioneer Courthouse Square holiday tree will finish its journey from a forestland near Gaston to downtown Portland on Friday, in time for the holiday season.

The Douglas fir is the 11th tree picked out and donated by Stimson Lumber Company for the square's winter festivities.

Pioneer Courthouse Square Representative Theresa Vetsch-Sandoval said it was harvested Wednesday. On Friday at noon, the tree will parade along SW 6th Avenue with Santa and The Beat Goes on Marching Band before being lifted into place.

Vetsch-Sandoval said a team of workers will spend the next two weeks reattaching branches that had to be removed for the trip and adorning the tree in time for the 29th annual lighting ceremony Friday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
