Restoration Work on Lion Gulch Trail

We are asking for the public's help restoring the bottom section of the Lion Gulch Trail, which was almost completely destroyed by last September's flood. In addition, we will be rebuilding two bridges that were wiped out in the flood. It is likely that this trail will be closed for all of 2014 because of the extensive amount of work required to make it safe again. This is the first of four currently scheduled work days on the trail. There will undoubtedly be more as the summer unfolds.

Work will be assigned as needed, but in general it will involve wielding a shovel or other trail building tools, carrying rocks of various sizes, and getting filthy dirty and/or wet. At the end of the day, you will feel as though you have accomplished something. (This is different from working on a computer all day long!)

General information about the Trail Restoration Day can be found in this discussion thread.

I'm sorry, I mistakenly signed up for Sat, 5/24. I am signed up for Sun 5/25 and I am still planning to do that one. Sorry for any confusion. See you Sunday.

This could be interesting, I'm looking forward to a hard days work and also for paying back all the years I've enjoyed our local wilderness areas and trails.

I believe your idea resonates with many of us who have enjoy the beauty of Colorado and its wilderness area. We take many of the natural resources for granted, and this is one way to pay it back.
