I'm an independent graphic and technical designer with a LOT of experience in Web design. I worked in San Francisco for over eight years as a Web developer. Companies included Sybase, INTEL, Macromedia and a little Yahoo. I lived in Folsom CA also.
Chocolate! Tequila but I'm a snob and I only drink one kind. Jamaican rum but only after 5:00 p.m. Coffee and Baileys especially for breakfast (yea, I know it's fattening) A cold beer in a bag in the park when I go out riding on my bike. I bike on the "Reward" system. Long Island ice tea but after a couple...sorry about your shoes. That's a joke. Sambuca goes well with my Sheesha pipe on a warm evening with friends. I like Ceasers cause by the time I am drinking those I need the roughage. I don't drink wine because the name says it all. By law the tallest drink on the counter is mine (unless you have your hand on it). I'll tease you if you have a drink with an umbrella in it, but I'll drink one with you. I don't mind second hand smoke. Just don't be "flailing" your arms around with a lit pointed stick or running with scissors in my direction. Favorite non-alcoholic beverage is a Brown Cow (root beer and milk). Tea with my Mom because she can't have coffee and she's a mean drunk.
It was a little difficult to start but the usual "What do you do?" trailing into polite conversations of who we've worked for and where were to be expected. Elevator "pitches" from some were a little irreverent and I wish I had more opportunities to speak with individuals concerning design theory and tool-sets. Then again that's just me and I was a little off topic myself i.e. I brought up that I like to take apart and collect old typewriters which, to me, is cool but I'm sure is a little eye-glazing to others. In mixed company I probably wouldn't have mentioned that. I was happy not to be offered someones business card. I liked Tony because he seems to be all over the place with interesting ideas and well read. I'd go again but probably bring my own beverages in a bag. Thanks.
