Theme: Scientific Computing in Python
This month Sim Harbert will be hosting a forum about scientific computing with Python. This should be interesting even for those of you who do not deal with huge numeric datasets or run computational simulations, because basic scientific tasks — like graphing data, or gathering statistics — can also help a non-scientist like yourself understand the behavior of a Python application, or present interesting data to your clients.
Keep presentations to 10 or 20 minutes if possible.
Presentation: Python in Science overview (Peter Estelle)
Presentation: PyTables for managing large data sets (James Fowler)
Presentation: Mayavi2, a 3D Visualization Toolkit (Sim Harbert)
Lightning Talks: we are always open for random 5-minute "lightning talks" at every meeting; just ask the organizer as you arrive.
Make sure you sign up for an account at www.PyAtl.org since registration is now open to the public.
