Beginner's Night

September's meeting is focused on those of you new to Python development. Whether you're changing careers, or just getting started out of school, you'll find something of interest on the schedule this month.

• Intro to Functions in Python - Rick Copeland

• A Whirlwind Tour of the Python Standard Library - Doug Hellmann

• Roman Numerology - Daniel Rocco

The meeting starts at 7:30PM in the North Avenue room. Some of us get together before the meeting between 6:00 and 6:30 to have dinner and talk.

Doug- do you have slides available from your talk? I am wanting to review some of the items you discussed but my notes are inadequate. Thanks!

I did pull the examples from my site. The source for the slides is in our group git repository under https://github.com/pya.... You can read the plain text in index.rst, or convert that to the HTML slides using the provided Makefile.

Good stuff last night. The library presentation was great for this Python newbie.

I had a blast. Wasn't able to stay for the end of Doug ' s talk but got a ton of great info and a feel for concepts. Exactly what I needed.

A great opportunity to gather research topics, demystify certain aspects of the language, and socialize with both seasoned and fellow neophyte PyDevs.

Hey everyone. Sorry for this post but looks like Hank has got an unscheduled job and might not be able to make it today. So is there anyone who would be able to offer me a ride to the meetup from or near Georgia Tech.
    Thanks

I should be in the area about 6PM. I'll send a message to your phone.

Hi Harshit. I'm actually not going from Georgia Tech, but will be driving right past East Campus at whatever hour the traffic lets me get down there. If you don't find a better option, you can ride with me.

Hey everyone, I am new to the group and would like to meet you all this Thursday. However, since I am new here, I don't have a vehicle, and moreover my bike was stolen this week :( Was wondering if anyone would be going to the meetup from Georgia Tech. Would appreciate a ride to the meetup. Thanks.
