Re: [pyatl] the Python Atlanta December meetup is on Thursday!

Hey all,

I'd rather come to the pyatl group as usual.? But, there is some idea that I could go to ignition alley and record the JS meetup (unfortunately also the 10th).? Is there anyone who really thinks that this is important (for promoting pycon, building a bigger network of local devs, etc)?? Want to join me at the javascript meetup and help setup/record?

If I don't go to the javascript meetup, I would be glad to do something real short about:

* vim as python ide

or perhaps

* django/orbited on twisted

Fellow Python Atlanta-ers -

December is passing quite quickly for me amidst a swirl of shopping,
holiday parties, and vacation plans. ?But the second Thursday of the
month is nearly here, which means that it's time for another Python
Atlanta meet-up!

? ?Python Atlanta
? ?7:30pm December 10th
? ?GTRI Food Processing Technology building

? ?RSVP here:

? ?

As you can see from the schedule, I will start by giving my first draft
of "The Mighty Dictionary" talk that I am writing for PyCon in February.
Then, we will open the floor for as many 5-minute and 10-minute
lightning talks as you folks would like to contribute! ?The year is
ending, and here are some ideas for what you might think about giving us
a little talk about this Thursday:

?* What is the most important thing you have learned about Python this
? year? ?Was it a new development environment? ?Or a development tool?
? Or a useful library that you now use all of the time in production?

?* What was your favorite Python project that you did this year? ?Did it
? work out the way you expected? ?What worked best, and what roadblocks
? did you hit?

?* What one feature do you wish Python had? ?Come ask the rest of us how
? we work around it, or what alternative solution you might be missing
? to something that has been wasting your time and effort.

If you have an idea for a lightning talk, it would be great if you could
reply to me ahead of time and let me know; but I'm sure free slots will
still be available as we start the meeting, so you can always ask to be
added to the list of lightning talks at the last minute.

Finally, note that I have re-vamped the web site so that it's now easy
to edit and easy to link in the videos and slides of the great talks
that many of you guys have contributed this year. ?Please give me any
suggestions you have about additional content for the site, and share
the links with any friends who you think would benefit from seeing one
or more of the talks that we have managed to record:

I hope to see you on Thurday, I hope that you'll think about sharing a
little lightning talk (with slides or without), and either way I hope
that you enjoy your holidays!
