I'm new to python/django and would like to know what IDE everyone is using.

I primarily develop on a windows box, but I have linux as well. I've been using notepad ++, but I'd much rather use something like netbeans, but netbeans doesn't have the best django support.

Any tips would be appreciated!

I'll ask for a show of hands at next week's January meeting, to see what people are using. I myself, being an old-time Unix person, use Emacs with lots of modules added that give me not only syntax highlighting, but auto-completion, documentation lookup, warnings if I used undefined variables, help rearranging my imports, and refactoring support. I first chose Emacs because I found its key bindings attractive an easy to remember — P for previous-line, N for next-line, E for end-of-line, and so forth.

But, I'll bet I'm in a *small* minority by using Emacs! Let's see if anyone else replies, and let's see what people say at the meeting when I ask. Thanks for the good question!

Brandon, I am in that small minority too. I use Emacs when working on code on a remote server, but I use Eclipse with PyDev for everything else. I have heard/read good things about Wingware and Komodo also, but since I write some non-Python code, Eclipse helps me keep it all under one roof. Hope this helps.

komodo ide for me. has a git integration (although a bit touchy) and is fast enough.
