    Who is available to do a one-on-one intro to Python with me at a coffee shop in the next couple of weeks? I'd like to learn how to use the Facebook-sdk and Django.

    I wrote up a list some topics that we might select from for an "Intermediate Python workshop". The idea would be to select our strongest topics to fill up a couple hours, rather than attempting to do the majority of them.

    Intermediate Python topics:

    More Python syntax:

    * OO in Python
    * New string formatting syntax (string.format())
    * Exceptions and warnings (including how to handle them globally)
    * Decorators
    * Annotations
    * Context managers
    * Iterators and generators (and co-routines?)
    * Slots and descriptors
    * Metaclasses and meta-programming

    continued...

      I think limiting it would be good. But if the workshop goes a full day - say 9 to 4 or 5 then maybe three longer subjects and two smaller ones might work. I like the idea of a "GUI workshop". Of Course the workshop depends on speakers but maybe looking at job ads to see what companies want might help to winnow the presentations needed.

      I could do wxpython. On the Qt side, does anyone use Traits?

    Would anyone be interested in having something like a Python object-oriented design study group? OOD is not strictly a Python topic, but Python would be the example language used.

    A specific project might be working through the book _Practical Object-Oriented Design in Ruby: An Agile Primer_ ( http://www.poodr.info/ ) and converting the examples to Python. This could also be worked into presentations for the main group.

    Another thing I'd like to mention is that there is an agile programming group here in San Diego:

    http://www.agilesandiego.org/

    I imagine that they are Java oriented, but perhaps there is some crossover potential.

    This month we are going to try lightning talks on web programming in Python. If you are interested in giving a 5-10 minute talk (time limits semi-loosely enforced) please let me know or post in the comments.
