Gold Coast JVM/Android meetings

From: Craig A.
Sent on: Tuesday, October 11, 2011 5:18 PM

This message is intended for anyone who has been to, or is intending to go to, the Gold Coast JVM/Android meetings. It does not affect any of the Brisbane meetings!

Steve and I have made the difficult decision to stop organising the Gold Coast JVM/Android User Group meetings. Whilst we thank the people that did make the effort to come out, we don’t feel that the group is generating enough interest, receiving enough support from the community, or delivering enough value to make it work.

Those of you that know us well will realise that Steve and I are very much for building special interest communities, and understand that we haven’t taken the decision to stop organising the Gold Coast JVM/Android meetings lightly. The good news is that we believe that there is something that will appeal to a wider audience (and therefore be more sustainable) on the horizon!

We are working with other community leaders and local businesses to secure a space that will be the hub for many meetups and other activities. We will be running sessions there that we would have targeted at this group, so you will still be able to get your geek “fix”, the bonus being that there will be a much wider variety of content on offer. Watch this space!
Craig and Steve
