Hi, I am Donna-Maria. I currently live in Covina and am in search of an all women book club. I have read and reread all the stuff on my shelves and have decided that it might be time to expand my genres to include some more up to date literature.
I really like murder mysteries, but I am interested in expanding my horizons. I will pick up a book pretty much anywhere, although I recently parred down quite a bit and want to avoid filling the shelves of my office with anything and everything just because I can't seem to part with it. Wouldn't a library card be a nice thing to have again!
"The Doctor and the Diva" by Adrienne McDonnell, something I picked up of all places, Costco. I enjoyed the story telling, it was beautifully written, I became so involved it was difficult to put down. The characters, the description of the places, the passion kept me enthralled until the final page. Next I picked up John Grisham's "The Confession", murder mysteries are probably my favorite. I had high hopes of justice prevailing as I raced through the book to find out if an innocent young black man would be able to find justice, but instead found myself crying like a baby at the injustice of this countries legal system and media. Thank God it was fiction, how I wish! I found the "The Help" to be very slow, but felt I needed to read it before I saw the movie. Luckily the last two hundred pages or so did restore my confidence and interest.
Thanks for joining, Donna-Maria, welcome to the group.
