Dear R Fellows,
welcome to our R meetup in 2013! We are starting this year with two presentations by our group members Ryan Copus and Alan Eng. Both have been working on projects they are passionate about and when I saw their work and ideas I thought there were some very useful R lessons for our meetup.
Here are their quick intros:
This will be my first time presenting Epitome.org's R-based blogging/modeling platform in public. I'll walk through the creation of a "law school chances calculator" in R, the use of self-authored functions in that process, and the use of the gridExtra package to generate decent tables with R. You're also welcome to check the site out beforehand (beta access code is epitome123. Please don't share the code with others.).
Also, I wanted to include an apology to anyone who emailed me about being a beta blogger and did not get a response from me. It turns out we were having some email problems around that time. Shoot me another email if you're still interested ([masked]).
Monitoring metrics with dashboards is a common necessity among small and large businesses. In this presentation, I will introduce a new package in R called Shiny that allows any user to create a web app in R. You will learn the structure behind building this web app with mere lines of code and how you can get started building your own dashboard.
I am looking forward to see you all. We are either in room 2515 or 3515.
